Humble Acres Chinchilla Rescue

As the market for exotic pets grows larger and larger, we here at Humble Acres realize that an increasing number of chinchillas may be in need of a new home as their previous owners find themselves unable to care for them. This can occur for a variety of different reasons, but for whatever the reason, it is Humble Acres' belief that chinchillas should never be left at an SPCA/humane society/other rescue organization unless it is specifically geared toward chinchillas and/or other exotic animals with very specific care needs.

Humble Acres would like to extend a helping hand to any chinchilla(s) which have been placed in this situation, whether it be taking in and rehoming the chinchilla(s), locating and returning the chinchilla(s) to the original breeder, or helping to find another chinchilla rescue group closer to the original home.

Due to the small size of our program, Humble Acres has very limited space to take in chinchilla(s) in immediate need in the western NY and PA areas, as well as some small amount of eastern Ohio animals, and will courtesy-post any chinchilla(s) which may remain in their current situation until a suitable new home is found or space opens up in Humble Acres' facilities. Humble Acres also has contact with many rescue groups all over the United states and will help people outside of the NY/PA/OH area in finding a suitable location for their pet, time permitting.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Humble Acres at info@humbleacreschinchillas.com. Please allow 24-48 hours for a response.

Humble Acres does require a small owner-surrender fee of $25-50 USD/per chinchilla dependent upon the condition of the animal(s) needing rescue, which covers initial cage set-up costs and possible vet bills. Chinchillas bred here at Humble Acres being returned to us on contract are not required to include the owner surrender fee, and will not be considered a rescue animal. Humble Acres gladly accepts donations and sponsorship money to help defray rescue costs, as well as donations of toys, Mazuri chinchilla feed/Manna Pro Sho rabbit feed, glass water bottles, etc, which also help to lessen expenses. As a small, family-run program, Humble Acres regrets that we cannot take in every chinchilla which is offered to us.Please note that our health guaruntee does not apply to rescue chinchillas at the time of adoption.

Any rescues currently available for adoption will be listed on the FOR SALE page under the "rescue" heading.
