OUR HISTORY:

Humble Acres began in 2005 as a family hobby venture. In 2006, Humble Acres' first kits were born to a standard mother and a hetero beige father on March 09. In early 2007, these kits' father had started to show signs of maloclussion, prompting us to halt our breeding program and do a complete revamping. Also in early 2007 Mike joined the Humble Acres family and prompted the beginning of the rescue and supply-making programs. Since that extremely humble beginning, we have received an MCBA membership and ranch brand (MHAC) and have shifted our focus from beiges to all types and mutations of whites, as well as quality standards. Humble Acres still remains a small program, currently running under 30 breeding chinchillas at all times, as well as participating in rescue/rehoming and MCBA sanctioned shows. We also make custom toys, cages and cage supplies (such as hay hangers, ledges, etc) and always offer Purina Advanced Nutrition Rabbit Show feed and Blue Cloud bath dust for sale. We will also order in Mazuri chinchilla feed or high-quality timothy hay (from APD) for any interested parties.

OUR PHILOSOPHY AND MISSION:

Here at Humble Acres, we specialize in the development of the white chinchilla and all offshoots thereof**. We believe that in order to do this, we must focus on the quality of every animal of every color/mutation within our program, and strive to obtain what we believe to be the best stock from the best lines available.

Our foundation herd includes lines from:

Chinchilla Park Place

Jack Danko

Blue Vale

Whitewoods

Riedstra

For the Love of Chinchillas

Rocky Mountain Chinchillas (through CPP)

Alderbrook Chinchillas

Becky West

Shoots *Anticipated Summer 2008*

We have a small breeding program which allows us to give individual attention to every chinchilla born and/or living here. We breed in both runs and large cages, and all of our breeding females receive break time between litters.

Humble Acres is home to dog(s) and cat(s), so that all of our kits are familiar with the presence of other animals, as well as small children. *Humble Acres prefers that our chinchilla kits go to home with children over 10 years of age, but will consider every family on a case-by-case basis* Every kit is handled from birth, and remain with their mother until 8 weeks of age. No kit is allowed to leave Humble Acres until 12 weeks of age.

Humble Acres welcomes visitors to our home by appointment, so that we can spend an ample amount of time with every visitor, and will gladly answer questions by phone or email. If for some reason we cannot help you, we will direct you to someone who can. IN THE CASE OF A MEDICAL EMERGENCY, PLEASE CONTACT A VETERINARIAN.
